Bridgestone, the global manufacturer of tires and rubber products, was recognized by General Motors (GM) as Supplier of the Year in 2015.
The company received the award at the 24th GM’s „Supplier of the Year” annual ceremony, that was held on March 10 held at Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.
GM recognized 110 of its best global suppliers from 17 countries „going above and beyond requirements”, created exceptional value or brought innovations to the company.
During this ceremony, GM announced the largest number of suppliers to date, from the inauguration of the „Supplier of the Year” event in 1992. This is the 14th time when Bridgestone receives the award.
“Our priorities are focused on building positive supplier relationships, bringing new, customer-centric innovations to GM, and being the OEM of choice among suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain.
“The companies we recognize tonight not only have brought innovation, they delivered it with the quality our customers deserve.”
Christophe de Valroger, Vice President (OE consumer) Bridgestone Europe NV/SA said “Bridgestone has been a major tyre supplier to Opel/Vauxhall for many years now and was extremely proud to receive such an accolade from GM. It’s a great reflection of the efforts and strong teamwork from all departments across Bridgestone Europe working in partnership with a customer to produce class leading products driven by innovation and technology. We look forward to building on this great customer relationship.”
GM’s 2015 supplier recognition represents a nearly 40 per cent increase in the number of suppliers honoured compared to 79 recipients in 2014. More than half of the suppliers are repeat winners from 2014.
Winning suppliers were chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics executives and selected based on performance criteria in Product Purchasing, Indirect Purchasing, Customer Care and Aftersales, and Logistics.
